Excused/Unexcused

Aloha Colleagues!

I am currently revising our parent/student handbook. Joy. . .

When a student has an unexcused absence, do your teachers still assist the student and allow make-up of tests and work or does the student automatically receive a O for the day?

When a student has a free period, do you require them to sign in and designate where they are on campus?

When you revise your handbooks, do you solicit input from the faculty or do the administrators make all of the decisions?

Sleeping less in Hawaii,

Ann

Thanks to Michelle

Michelle
Thanks so much for setting up this blog. I have not really even had time to begin to process all the information from the Institute yet--and I am ON VACATION so I am not even going to think about it for a few days. I'll get back to it soon, though.

FYI: Admin. Privileges

As you join the blog, I'm giving everyone "admin privileges." That means that you can post photos, PDFs, add RSS feeds, and even change the layout, font & colors of the blog. To make changes or add something, click on "customize" at the top right. If you click on "layout," then find a spot on the template where it says "add a page element," it will give you several choices.

Honor Systems

We've been chatting a lot about different honor systems our schools have. For those of you with successful honor systems, how do you train the students who sit on the Honor Council? How do you train the faculty sponsor?

Let's Keep in Touch

My favorite element of this workshop so far is meeting y'all. Really, as professionals in a similar circumstances we can be of amazing support to each other as next year (and the year after that, and that) unfolds. I hope you'll find this useful as our place to share ideas and thoughts. In order to make changes to the blog, you'll want to become an "author." I'll invite you (through your email address) to become an author.
